1. |
Rule
#1: Don't pick! |
|
2. |
Wash
twice a day. Lightly in the AM. Extra-thoroughly in
the PM. |
|
3. |
Disinfect
by placing a septic stick on the zit for 30 seconds.
|
|
4. |
To
reduce redness: Saturate a cotton ball with Visine and
hold it on the blemish for 2 minutes or more. |
|
5. |
Reduce
swelling or inflammation with a dab a Preparation H.
Leave it on for a few minutes until absorbed. |
|
6. |
Have
a professional facial regularly to safely extract clogged
oil and dirt without infection or scarring. |
|
7. |
Don't
overtreat. Over-doing it - washing, masking, or medicating
- can stimulate more oil. |
|
8. |
Rest
on the 7th Day. Give skin a makeup-free day. |
|
9. |
Eat
a healthy diet and get regular exercise to improve circulation.
|
|
10. |
Use
oil-free sun blocks or tanning lotions. |
|
11. |
Avoid
creme-based foundation or blush if your skin is oily.
|
|
12. |
Keep
your hands off your face. When you do touch your face,
make sure fingers and nails are clean as possible. |
|
13. |
See
a dermatologist if acne persists. |
|
14. |
Exfoliate
at night, 1-2 times a week. |
|
15. |
Use
an acne/oily skin-fighting mask once a week. |
|
16. |
Avoid
washcloths. A good alternate is a disposable cleansing
'facial' cloth. Use once. |
|
17. |
and
throw away! |
|
18. |
Dry
face with a clean towel. |
|
19. |
Wash
with warm - not hot - water, and lots of it. |
|
20. |
Cut
oil buildup with an oil-blotting "mattifying" toner.
|
|
21. |
Use
oil-free moisturizer sparingly. A dime-sized amount
is plenty. |
|
22. |
If
soap overdries skin, switch to cleanser - or alternate
soap with cleanser, morning and night. |
