Moisturizer
A good facial moisturizer should be more than just something you dab
on after cleansing and before applying sunscreen. This one fills the
billin large part because of its one-two punch of potent antioxidants.
"Like many effective moisturizers, this one contains ingredients like
shea butter to lubricate the skin and humectants such as glycerin
and hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture," says judge Lisa Donofrio,
M.D. But what really impressed her was Pro-Vita C's 10 percent concentration
of L-Ascorbic acid (the most stable form of vitamin C, which can be
absorbed into the skin without losing its effectiveness). "Vitamin
C is one of the best-known ingredients used to fight free radical
damage caused by pollution and sun exposure," Donofrio explains. Also
included is the antioxidant superoxide dismutase, a promising anti-ager
that usually isn't seen in nonprescription skin treatments.
This moisturizer's naturopathic ingredients, like
arnica and aloe vera, decrease the likelihood of irritation, making
it ideal for nearly everyoneeven those with sensitive skin,
Donofrio adds.

Trying out beauty products may sound like fun, but this expert has
to stray a bit from her normal routine to test some of them. "To properly
analyze the different sunscreens, I had to slather one brand on my
left arm and another on my right arm, then sit out in the sun, said
Donofrio, a 40-year old dermatologist with a private practice in New
Your City and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale
University School of Medicine. "Sunbathing is something I haven't
done in years."

LOS ANGELES
- With so many lotions, potions and elixirs touting their good-for-your-skin

that will actually benefit their complexion? Time Inc's Health Magazine,
along with a panel of independent dermatologists and estheticians, have
chosen Lamas Beauty's new Pro-Vita
C Moisturizer SPF 15 as the Healthiest Moisturizer of the Year in its 4th annual Healthy Beauty Awards. The award-winners were officially
announced in New York on October 29 at the Rainbow Room.

over all other moisturizers.

Pro-Vita
C Moisturizer SPF 15 topped all other participants in what is
considered to be the most competitive category, according
to Health editors. The Moisturizer product category is one
of 10 fields, in all receiving more than 500 product nominations. Choosing
the winner were dermatologists and estheticians from leading medical centers
and universities who based their decisions on clinical data and independent
performance reviews, as well as ingredients, packaging, anti-aging benefits
and moisturizing ability.
A nourishing moisturizer, Pro-Vita
C Moisturizer SPF 15, protects skin during the daytime with a
multi-action combination of natural antioxidants that break down free
radicals before they can damage skin. A high percentage of highly absorbable
Vitamin C invigorates collagen and elastin reproduction, which helps increase
firmness, while also helping to decrease hyperpigmentation (especially
freckles and age spots) and aiding in the neutralization of free radicals. Pro-Vita C Moisturizer
SPF 15 also contains Hyaluronic Acid, a protein found naturally in
the skin's deeper layers, increases moisturization by holding up to 1,000
times its weight in water.
"It's wonderful to receive expert recognition for a product we put so
much time and care in developing," says Peter Lamas, founder of Lamas
Beauty International, the parent company of Lamas Cosmeceuticals. "As
a life-long veteran of the beauty industry, it was so important to me
to create a product that lived up to its promise as well as one that was
as natural and as healthy as possible."
